More "In Focus"

They’re Back . . . .

And so are we!  After a small break to enjoy Judianne’s big birthday celebration, we are back on-line and ready to post more often.  Who better to start with than these adorable sisters?  

We first introduced you to these cutie-pies last year at this time (see here).   We were so pleased when they asked us to come back for this year’s photos, because we truly love photographing them.  

 
 

Last year, we had a lot of fun exploring “their” beach.  This year, we were able to incorporate other things that are important to them – the swing where the older sister has spent much time learning how to pump, and the tree that the younger sister loves to climb.  

 
  

Of course, the session wouldn’t be complete without a short visit to the beach to capture some candid shots as they hunt for sea glass and other cool treasures. 

 
 

Thanks for looking.  We’ve got a busy weekend coming up with our first D-Photo Creations class, an engagement session and more seniors.  Stay tuned because there will be plenty to post very soon.

They’re Back . . .

Parents (and photographers alike) are not supposed to have favorites.  They are supposed to love “their” children all the same.  In that vein, we won’t tell you that these cuties pies are our favorite clients, but we can tell you that we really, really love to photograph them!  J  They are so polite; they are curious about us and our equipment; they are easy to get a nice balance between fun and formal shots.   This is the second time we have had the privilege to work with them, and we truly hope this becomes an annual event.

Things got kind of crazy at the end of our senior push, and we didn’t post all of the seniors we wanted to share.  We’ll be back soon to do just that.

Family Connections

Once in a while, we meet a family that we instantly connect with and we set the foundation for a long-standing friendship.  This is one of those families.  

We were first introduced in the Spring of ’08 when Lindsay became one of our Senior Representatives (our best Rep, in fact, thanks Lindsay!).  Since that time, we have stayed connected with Lindsay’s mom – a beautiful, kind and energetic woman who is passionately devoted to her family.  Together, they are wonderful group of people that we are better for knowing. 

When we met this time, we had the pleasure of taking their family photographs.  The timing for these pictures was important for two reasons.  First, the “baby” of the family is getting old, and it was important to capture the complete family.  Here he is – isn’t he sweet?!

 

Second, it was important to capture the family before Lindsay leaves for college in the Fall.  Here she is with her older sister. 

 

While we thought this was a beautiful picture, mom thought this didn’t truly reflect “the girls” as she knows them.  So, we tried something more true to life.

 

Here is one of our favorite family pictures and a sweet capture with dad and his girls.

 
 

It’s hard to tell what dad is thinking here.  It could be that he is reminiscing about the girls when they were tiny babies and how they’ve grown up so fast.  OR, he could be secretly celebrating how quiet it will be in the house once they are both away at college!  What do you think? 

Many thanks to all of you for the privilege of recording these special memories.  We are already looking forward to more moments together, like wedding days, new babies and so forth.

One Year Later

We first introduced you to this little cutie last year.  You may recall that her parents are dear friends of ours, and our kids just LOVE her.  (See here: Mommy & Me)  This year, though, we didn’t travel to New Jersey, she and her family came to us.  

We spent a great day together taking in the sites from Kittery to Portland, and we tried to capture some fun shots along the way.  Though it was a little cool and the wind was blowing strong, at least the sun was out.  When they were here, we joked about how they brought the sun with them, because the weather had been so wet.  Maybe there was some truth to it after all, because it feels like it has been raining ever since they left.

Here are a couple of our favorites.  Photographing her is so easy when she smiles like this!

 
 
One thing her mom really wanted last year was a picture of all three kids.  For various reasons, it didn’t happen.  We think she will be pleased this year, though, don’t you?

 
We love these next two because they have such an “artsy” feel to them, and we can already envision them framed and hanging on the wall.  Yes, we understand this little sneak peek here really doesn’t do them justice, but we had to show them anyway.

  

The forecast is predicting some improvement in the weather today – we might even see the sun.  If we do, be sure to get out and enjoy it for at least a few minutes!

Happy First Father’s Day!

Many of you have heard us say that pictures can help you preserve memories.  They do this by recording specific points in time.  We can’t speak for the parents of this little cutie, but we can tell you what memories we preserved when we spent a short amount of time with this adorable 5½ month old.
 

·         She has gorgeous blue eyes!  When the light catches them just right, they sparkle!

·         She loves to smile.  When we pull out our camera, though, she becomes very curious about and focused on everything going on around her.   

·         Both Mom and Dad are completely infatuated by her (as they should be!).  She clearly feels the same way.

·         Though she is young, she is done with sitting still and wants to be on the move.  Once her legs catch up with her brain, she’ll be gone!  (Maybe that’s why she kept showing us her feet throughout our session?)

We hope we were able to preserve some very special memories for this family.  We also hope Dad enjoyed his First Father’s Day today!

A Beautiful Family to Share

We had the pleasure of spending last Saturday morning with this beautiful family – lucky us!  These two young brothers are both handsome and full of smiles.  

 

The older brother was very busy taking care of the garden hose, “mowing” the lawn with his bubble blower and playing on the swings.  He did take a break from all this work to pose for a couple of pictures for us.  We were able to get some great captures of him with his dad, too. 

 
 

 

The baby of the family doesn’t usually nap during the day, but shortly after we arrived it was obvious he was ready for a power nap.  That was completely fine with us, because it allowed us to get this great capture.

 

Once he woke up, though, he was refreshed and full of smiles especially when we put him on his belly.

 

Finally, this family was beautifully dressed when we arrived, which we love - of course.  But, we also love it when people want to have a little fun, too, as this family did at the end of the session when they put on matching Sylvester shirts.  We love this family picture, and we couldn’t resist sharing it!

 

That’s all for now.  We have a busy weekend coming up with the Relay for Life and a maternity session (once we recover from the overnight Relay).  There should be lots to share next week, so stay tuned!

Father’s Day Surprise . . . . Shhhhh

If you happen to know the man who is lucky enough to be married to this beautiful woman or is the father to these beautiful “girls,” please be careful not to spill the beans.   They want to surprise Dad with a picture of his “girls” for Father’s Day.  We think he will be very pleased, don’t you? 

We had so much fun with these ladies when we met for our session.  We can’t remember the last time we laughed that hard!  We can only imagine what it must have been like growing up in their house when they were younger.  During the teenage years, Dad was probably ready to pull his hair out!  Clearly, they care for each other very much and still enjoy spending time together.

Mom and dad will celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss later this year.  Congratulations to them both!!

The Holidays are Over . . .

And it’s time to get back to work!  We were more than happy to end our short holiday break with this beautiful family.  Mom and Dad are certainly busy, and you can tell they wouldn’t have it any other way!  We hope you enjoy this quick sneak peak at a few of our favorites.

Look at These Little Cuties!

We had a wonderful time getting to know these little cuties.  They are so sweet and very polite – especially for such young girls.  They also made great little tour guides for the afternoon as they led us all around “their beach.”  

We don’t want to spoil any holiday card surprises, so we won’t show many pictures of the two of them together.  But we just couldn’t hold all of these pictures back until the first of the year. 

   
On the way back to the dock at the end of our time together, we saw these great dandelions.  No child we know can resist stopping to pick a dandelion – and we couldn’t resist capturing these.

     
As some of you may know, having your pictures taken can be hard work.  So, every now and again, we try to loosen things up a bit to help relax the face muscles.  The classic funny face works well as does the good ‘ol fish face.  If that (by some miracle) fails, then it takes a good belly laugh to get the job done.

Introducing Spiderman!

This was the first time we photographed this little cutie and his beautiful family.  He loves superheroes – and he can tell you all about each of their real names, superhero names, and their superhero colors.  

We met at Portland Headlight, and we had a great time.  We had so many favorites from this session – it was hard to pick just a few. 

 

         
Sometimes, you have the most fun at the beach when you are trying not to wet, like in these photos.

 

     
Finally, Spiderman is one of his favorite superheroes.  So, for a fun last shot – he tried to scale the wall just like Spiderman. 

 
(Don’t worry – Dad was right beside him the whole time and he was never in danger of falling.  We wouldn’t take a risk like that with a little one.)
