This past weekend was a bittersweet one. It was the last weekend our son played hockey as a member of the mites team he has skated on for the last two years. In that time we’ve had a lot of fun making new friends, watching the kids play, and cheering on our lucky #13. Next year will bring a new team, new friends and new memories.
It’s rare you will find us at the rink without our camera; and at the end of each season, we like to share the memories captured with Alex and his teammates. For the second year in a row, we have done so with these great accordion albums. The moms love them, of course, but so do the kids. We've heard great stories about how the kids have brought them to school for show 'n tell as well as how the albums are displayed in a special place of honor at home.
These albums can be used for a variety of occasions. All they take are a few simple steps, some basic supplies, and a little bit of time. Contact us today if you are interested in learning more.

It’s Time to Get Crafty!
The Holiday season is rapidly approaching, so it’s time to start thinking about beautiful handmade gifts. This year, we are revisiting the slate that so many of you love, and we are using it to make a holiday calendar that you can use again and again.
Judianne has partnered with her dear friend and Stampin’ Up Consultant, Lynne Duggan, to create this beautiful “Don’t Forget to Count Your Blessings” slate. It is a magnetized count-down to Christmas calendar that will make a great addition to anyone’s home.
Interested in taking a class? Our first class is Saturday morning, November 6, 2010. Our second class is Sunday morning, November 14, 2010. The cost for the class is $25, and the supplies to make one slate are included. Class size is limited to 4 or 5 people. Additional slates will be available for purchase and ordering information for Stampin’ Up will be provided. Can’t make the class on either day but have some friends that would love to learn? D-Photo Creations – Next Project!
Wow – this month has really flown by and we haven’t posted nearly as much as we thought we would. Hopefully, we can get back on track.
We’ll start today by showing off our next D-Photo Creations project – these great accordion books! These are the perfect size to throw in your purse or back pack for a portable brag book.
This one, clearly, has a hockey theme going, but the possibilities are unlimited. Once you learn the basic technique, here are just a few different ways to use them:
- as brag books to show off the most recent pictures of your kids,
- as teacher gifts so they can do the same with pictures of their babies or grandbabies,
- as bridal shower favors complete with a picture of the happy couple. The recipients will love them because they will have a place to put the pictures they take at the upcoming wedding.
Our next D-Photo Creations classes will be held in March. Stay tuned for dates.

D-Photo Creations – 2nd Class
We held our second D-Photo Creations slate class over the weekend. While attendance was impacted by the nasty flu that seems to be everywhere these days, we still had a great time. The plus side of the lower attendance was that I had a chance to do more than instruct – I could create too!
Here’s one of my favorites – a day at the Seadogs with the game ticket. What a great way to preserve those memories.
Here’s a new one I created on an 8x10 slate instead of the 12x6. Each year we give updated pictures of the kids for Christmas, but we rarely frame them. With this, no frame is necessary. What a beautiful way to display portraits you give as gifts!

Lastly, as a surprise for all of our class attendees, we made photo ornaments like this:
These were so popular – many people around here will be making them for Christmas!
We have had so much fun with these classes, we are already looking forward to our next project and classes in early January (the 9th and 10th). Stay tuned for more details.

D-Photo Creations – 1st Class!
On Saturday morning, I gathered with a group of friends for the inaugural D-Photo Creations class. The experience confirmed what I have known for years – “craft therapy” is good for the body and soul. J We ate (of course!), we laughed, we created beautiful slates, and we were inspired to keep creating even after the class was over. Any way you measure it, the class was a huge success.
The creations were as varied as the people in attendance. One celebrated the life of a beloved family pet and even incorporated his dog collar as a very cool 3D attachment. Others celebrated their children – who they are today, their accomplishments, and the milestones they have achieved.
We tried to take pictures of all of them – but some were not dry and the wet glue distracted from the beauty of the slate. So, we only have a few to share with you.
Our next slate class is this coming Sunday, November 15th in the afternoon. There are 2 slots left for anyone who is interested in joining the fun. Contact us today!
We are already working on our next idea for a class in early January. It would be a great gift for Valentine’s day OR it could also work really well as a wedding party favor. Stay tuned for more details . . .

Introducing D-Photo Creations
We love to make beautiful things – most of you know that already. What you may not know is that our love for creating goes beyond what we can do with our digital photos on the computer. It’s great to step away from the computer and return to more traditional scrapbooking methods to make gifts for loved ones or pieces that we can use to decorate our home.
This is one of those creations. It’s a mini-version of our very popular 10x20 storyboards only this one is perfect for display on a mantle, a bookcase or even your desk at work. Using the slate helps to give the finished product more of an elegant feel, which is really wonderful when you decide to give it as a gift instead of keeping it for yourself.
So why are we telling you all of this? Because we are excited to introduce “D-Photo Creations” - instructional classes to feed your creative needs. A couple of times a year, we will offer classes that teach you how to create new and wonderful things. Keep them for yourself, give them away as gifts, or do both. Once you learn the basic steps, the variations on the theme are endless.
In the first class we are offering, you will learn how to make the slate pictured above. (What a wonderful gift this would make for Mother’s Day!) Class size will be limited to 5 students, and the cost for the class is $25. The materials will be provided for you – all you need to do is bring your own pictures and your creative energy.
